 Yangshuo makes great impression |
| For anyone going to Yangshuo at the other end of the Guilin Li River cruise through the karst formations,around Guilin in china,the one-hour show Impression Sanjie Liu(Impression of Third Sister Liu),staged just outside Yangshuo,is an absolutely spectacular evening show.The Karst moutain region is two hours by air from Shanghai.Yangshuo often is reached by a four-hour river-boat cruise on the Li River through the karst formations,including Mural(Nine Horses)Hill,Mother and Child Rock,and Kuanyin(Buddihist Goddess of Compassion)Hill.The Impression show is set on a water stage in a natural amphitheatre on the banks of the Li River,with 12 spotlit karst mountain as a back drop.It is by well-known film director Zhang Yimou(Raise the Red Lantern),zhang will direct the opening and closing ceremonies for the Beijing Olympics.
The show is based on the life of the local people ,including fisherfolk of the Zhuang and Yao minorities,and uses 600 local performers.The sound systerm is excellent,the costumes brilliant,and the performers appear to be walking on water.The high seats at the back are best,because the patterns made by the performers can be seen to best effect.For these ,costs range fom 320 to 680 yuan(about $50 to &110).others are 188 yuan.
